The School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, India is excited to welcome all the delegates, Scientists, Teaching fraternity, Research Scholars, Students from the different parts of the world on the occasion of International Conference on Emerging Trends in Biosciences and Chemical Technology-2022. School of Biotechnology was established with a vision to bring in quality of life through developing and imparting knowledge in the field of life-sciences and embracive technologies. Recognizing the growing impact of biotechnology education and research in the 21st century, the School of Biotechnology at SMVDU has placed due emphasis in the curriculum on interdisciplinary convergence in modern biology, engineering and technology, applied orientation, quantitative approach, practical training, awareness of the broader social, economic, environmental, ethical, legal and managerial issues in biotechnology. The Research carried out at School of Biotechnology is of international standards and has gained recognition worldwide because of quality publications in highly reputed scientific journals and participation in Research projects of International repute along with number of patents.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was established under an Act of J&K State Legislature in 1999 as fully residential and technical university, the first of its kind in J&K. Recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956, the university receives funding from UGC. The university ranked 78th among Engineering Institutions and Among Ranked Top 100 Business Schools in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2020) declared by the MHRD, Govt. of India.
IIT Jammu is recognized as an “Institute of National Importance” under the “Institutes of Technology Act” of 1961. IIT is an autonomous public higher education Institute funded by the Government of India, and functions under the governance of the IIT Council. The Laboratory was established in 1941 as a research and production centre, known as Drug Research Laboratory of J&K State and was later taken over by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) of Govt. of India in December 1957 as Regional Research Laboratory, Jammu. In view of its core strength in natural products based drug discovery, the mandate of Institute was redefined in 2007 and its name changed to Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM). The current mandate of IIIM is to discover new drugs and therapeutic approaches from Natural Products, both of plant and microbial origin, enabled by biotechnology, to develop technologies, drugs and products of high value for the national and international markets.
The aim of the Biotech Research Society of India [BRSI] is to promote the R&D in biotechnology, bring interaction between the academic institutes and biotech industries, interact with the industries and help them in resolving their problems as well make them aware with the new developments in the biotech sector, provide and arrange training in biotechnology, dissemination of biotech knowledge through the organization of lectures, seminars and symposia on scientific programmes and societal missions.
